Portland duo New Constellations have delivered one of our favourite new finds of the year with their latest single, “Secret Safe.”
It’s a warm, summery track — a reminder of summer even in winter, with shimmering synths, steady rhythms, and a gentle sense of nostalgia that feels instantly familiar in the best way.
Harlee Case’s stunning, soft vocals are a standout, mixed with Josh Smith’s spacious production. Inspired by close friends preparing to leave Portland, the song reflects on friendships that hold steady through distance and time. Harlee shares more:
“‘Secret Safe’ is an ode to friendship. It speaks to the power in the ability for friendship to transcend time and distance. It is also directly about, and dedicated to 4 of our friends who were planning on leaving Portland around the time we wrote it, a reminder to them, and ourselves, that no matter how far away, or how long it’s been, they will always have a special place in our lives and our hearts.”
Josh adds,
“True friendships surpass distance. It doesn’t matter how long I go without seeing you. Like, we love you, and we’ll always love you, and that’s enough. Our love is enough.”
