Sabrina Carpenter breaks down song “Manchild” in an exclusive Vevo footnotes video

Date:

Sabrina Carpenter topped the charts with “Manchild” which was the leading single of her newest album Man’s Best Friend. She partnered with Vevo to take give the viewers a behind-the-scenes look into the music video and everything about it.

Carpenter partnered with the music videos co-directors, Vania Heymann and Gal Muggi to go into detail about the creative vision behind the “Manchild” music video.

If you watch the video, you can learn that the music video took Sabrina and everyone involved 3 days to shoot, even though it was only originally going to be 2 days. This happened because Sabrina herself wanted more scenes in the video.

When on tour Sabrina is known for having many different outfits, and that didn’t change just because this was a music video. For this shoot there was 35 outfits, along with Sabrinas sister hand stitching the word “Manchild” onto Sabrinas shorts.

Like many music videos, this one had easter eggs that Sabrina wanted to add as a personal touch. None of these actually were spotted by fans though until after the release of the album. Carpenter also discusses the fast-paced conditions that occurred during the shoot and how they had to improvise, which helped to bring up the energy.

The episode highlights certain moments including the roadside breakdown scene, a car driving off a cliff and vibrant costume choices such as a red sequin dress from the bridge scene. The episode ends with the reveal of having so much footage and memorable moments that editing was one of the biggest challenges in bringing the vision to life.
