Niko Moon announces new album ‘American Palm’ and supporting tour

Date:

Niko Moon, best known for his No. 1 single “Good Time,” is ready to trade in the hustle for hammocks. The genre-blurring country artist just announced his third studio album, American Palm, arriving July 18 via EMPIRE, is being teased as a breezy, escapist soundtrack that’s part coastal daydream, part Southern soul.

Following the completion of his These Are The Nights Tour, the album announcement comes with even more good news: Moon is heading out on another headlining American Palm Tour, with tickets on sale June 27. The 13 new dates kick off Oct. 2 in Rosemont, IL at Joe’s Live, and bring Niko to some of the country’s most iconic venues; including House of Blues in Anaheim on Oct. 9, San Francisco’s Regency Ballroom on Oct. 14, and wrapping up in Lake Buena Vista, FL on Nov. 14.

The American Palm Tour adds to an already stacked year of performances for Moon, who’s fresh off a high-energy set at Stagecoach, and tours alongside Russell Dickerson and Michael Franti. He also recently launched his own festival-style event: the inaugural Good Time Charleston. Joining Moon on select tour stops will be David J, Iam Tongi and Wheeland Brothers.

Perhaps the most personal touch to this new era is “King of the Island,” a brand-new single dropping this Friday, written and performed with his father. Teased on Moon’s Instagram, the track sounds like a margarita-drenched ode to retirement fantasies and island isolation — one part Buffett, one part back porch — with Moon’s signature warmth bringing it all together.

“Ever wish you could sail away to a tropical destination and take a permanent vacation? That’s what King Of The Islandis all about,” Moon says. “I wrote it with the real king of the island, my dad.”

American Palm will feature previously released tracks including “Sandcastles,” “Boat Song” and “I Love This Beach.” The album paints a sonic postcard of peace and freedom, anchored in Moon’s own memories of summers spent between Georgia and Florida.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve seen the beach as a place where anybody can go to hit pause on the stresses of their everyday life,” he says. “With this record I wanted to bring that experience to everyone.
