We honored Mental Health Awareness Month with Reigns back in May when she released the poignant “Everybody Falls Apart Sometimes.” The expressive piano ballad gave listeners space to breathe, heal, and process while Reigns sang words of comfort. She touched on grief and loss, acknowledging that “everybody falls apart sometimes” through her soul-pop vocals. So, if you need to let out your emotions, if you need to fall apart, then do so—you don’t have to be strong every second of every day.
In fact, it might even make sense to run away. At least, this is what Reigns implies on her new single “Heels Running.” It is an empowering breakup anthem, drastically different from “Everybody Falls Apart Sometimes.” To the sounds of jazzy horns and skittering tambourine, Reigns sings, “I used to love you to the bone / But you ain’t no good and this ain’t my home.” She delivers unapologetic attitude and sass, telling someone to “watch my heels running” as she chooses herself.
In June, Reigns joined soul-jazz artist Rebecca Ferguson for special performances in Lytham, Leeds, and Gateshead. For those who hadn’t seen Reigns in action, these shows introduced fans to her infectious stage presence and stunning aura. In the fall, Reigns hits the road again to support The Wanted 2.0 across Ireland and the UK. You can find tickets and more info here.
“Heels Running” is out now via She Wears The Crown Records. You can listen to it here.
