PEPTALK are “Scared To Lose” in latest single

Date:

Australia’s PEPTALK‘s love for all things pop continues in their latest single “Scared To Lose.” With its endless supply of catchy melodies and wonderfully chaotic production, the song is sure to become a new favorite for lovers of Remi Wolf, MUNA and Chloe Parché.

From the starting filtered electric guitar, “Scared To Lose” is a 2-and-a-half-minute homage to the pop sounds of the late 2000s. Sparkling synth keys in the pre-chorus, the tight and punchy drums, and the distorted guitar chords in the chorus are prime examples.

With this quick, bright movement, the vocal melody also keeps listeners on their toes with the second verse changing to a call-and-response as opposed to the tamer first verse. In the bridge, this continues with the classic “wu-oh oo-oh,” reminiscent of songs from the 2000s pop era. After the bridge, however, the song cuts itself short. If anything, a final chorus would’ve given “Scared To Lose” the send-off it deserves.

Having started in the industry as songwriters, it’s no surprise that PEPTALK is able to fill a song with so many catchy lyrics. Their ability to fill a single line with internal rhythms is best seen in the second verse’s “The way my pulse is panicking but you’re just casually managing me baby.” A song about an avoidance of feelings, the trio is able to summarise their message in the chorus: “dress in camouflage just to hide from the truth / that I’m not scared of love / I’m just scared to lose.”

PEPTALK’s “Scared To Love” is the pop trio’s first single since the release of their 2025 album Better With Friends – Vol. 1. The fun pop track gives fans a clear insight in what to expect from PEPTALK in the coming months.
