Briston Maroney announces his third studio album, ‘Jimmy’

Date:

Folk rock artist Briston Maroney is drawing from his experiences growing up in Tennessee to craft his upcoming album, Jimmy, releasing on May 2.

The album follows Maroney’s recent releases including “Real Good Summer,” which has a heavy rock sound with some notes of psychedelia. This new sound for the typically softer folk artist reflects the inspirations for this project — Maroney’s devil-may-care north Floridian heritage mixed with the city life of hometown of Knoxville, TN.

A full track list is yet to be revealed but the artist has let out some teases to the project including grungy “Tomatoes,” rocky “Better Than You” and “Real Good Swimmer.”

Maroney first gained a following in 2020 with the release of stand alone single, “Freaking Out On The Interstate,” which has gandered a quarter of a billion streams on Spotify. Jimmy will be Maroney’s third album following the breakout Sunflower (2021) and Ultrapure (2023) and will be itself followed by a North American co-headlining tour with Peach Pit starting on May 20.
