Meltt release “Never Let Go” from upcoming album ‘Pathways’

Date:

The last time fans heard a new album from psychedelic alt-rock band Meltt was in 2023 when the foursome released Eternal Embers. The project flaunted the group’s synth-friendly sound, leaving listeners floored by the expression, the nuances, and the musicality heard within. After the album’s release, Meltt went through a steady period of touring, and they even landed a headline slot at Khatsahlano Street Party last year. It was a very busy time for them, but when things started to quiet down, they began working on their upcoming album, Pathways. They came up with over 100 ideas for the project and took things in a more acoustic-inspired direction musically. Fans heard glimpses of this sound in the band’s previously released singles, such as “Up All Night,” “Goodbye,” and “In Your Arms.”

With “Never Let Go,” Meltt continue to introduce fans to Pathways. It is described in the press release as “one of the most impactful moments” from the album, and once you take it in, you will agree. The single captures the hazy line between receiving and releasing, where you hear tight grooves and playful rhythms (the receiving) and fluid vocals that glide over expansive riffs and pitch bends (the releasing). There’s a bittersweet quality to it as well, emphasized with the line, “Go with the flow / But never let go.” You can check it out below.

Elaborating on the track, Meltt explain,

“‘Never Let Go’ is a reflection on time, purpose, uncertainty, and the inevitability of ending. Through the blurry lens of our consciousness and the limits of understanding, the song rides the tension between letting go and holding on. Go with the flow, but never let go; there’s always some hope.”

You can listen to “Never Let Go” here.

Pre-save Pathways, out June 12, here.
