Maddie Regent moves on from her debut album with “See me”

Date:

It’s been a whole year since Maddie Regent was on the phone with her mom, telling her about heartbreak, relationships, and daily desires. Of course, I’m referring to Maddie’s debut album, On the phone with my mom, a project that showcased a more self-assured and creatively diverse side of the indie-pop artist. Whether she was reflecting on love or sifting through the weighted feelings of young adulthood, Maddie let us in on where she is in life. She showed us her different sides, which allowed fans to learn more about her.

Maddie follows up her debut album with “See me.” A telling track about vulnerability, “See me” contains intimate lyrics, sweeping melodies, and an overall ambient vibe. The playful rhythms guide Maddie’s heartfelt vocals as she sings, “Right as the train left / Were you a little relieved / You were not the culprit? / I admit that I was the thief.” While she opens up about putting her ugly side on display, the song retains a lightness that reflects how wonderful it really is to have someone who chooses to “come back around” no matter what.

Maddie shares,

“‘See me’ is about how the last piece of yourself to show someone is the side that gets cold feet and leaves them at the train station with your bag. Now suddenly, this stranger knows you better than anyone else, and I don’t think there’s anything more romantic than that.”

You can listen to “See me” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
