John Harvie is back and better than ever with yet another hit, “Kiss Me”. Early on in his career, he’s already cemented himself as an up-and-coming underground rock staple.
John has already had a stacked year; opening for sace6 and Memphis May Fire on their headline tours, headlining his own show in Nashville, released “BREAK” in addition to announcing his upcoming EP (I Keep It) Real., and he’s scheduled to perform at Ceremony Fest and Warped Tour this fall. Now with another new single added to his discography, he continues to prove that he simply can’t miss.
After fans had heard this live over his last few performances, it was definitely a must-have so they can listen to it 24/7. “Kiss Me” keeps the electronic rock vibe of his new era, while managing not to sound repetitive. John takes us into his mind and transforms temptation into that rush of adrenaline you get when you know something is bad for you, but you want it anyway.
The chorus dives into how such a strong desire can be an intoxicating high, which only leaves him wanting more regardless of the inevitable comedown: “Kiss me, kiss me baby, won’t you melt right under my tongue / Leave me feeling hazy and hungover when I wake up / Hit it I won’t quit it / You a drug, drug, drug.” The metaphors frame this relationship like it’s a forbidden fruit: tempting and dangerous, yet he can’t resist.
