Singer-songwriter néomí releases “Sit Back Baby,” the final preview from her upcoming EP Another Year Will Pass. It’s a beautiful track with soft, stunning vocals, striking melodies, and an all-around pretty folk-pop sound. Inspired by artists like Bon Iver and Phoebe Bridgers, you can really hear those influences shine through in her authentic songwriting and dreamy soundscapes.
The story behind “Sit Back Baby” is about letting go, releasing, and loosening your grip when things feel heavy. It doesn’t shy away from the struggle; instead, it sits with it and offers acceptance. It’s emotionally charged, it’s intimate, and it’s very much néomí.
Speaking on the single, she says:
“It’s a song where I’m trying to convince myself it’s going to be fine. I’m telling everyone else, especially my loved ones, that it’s going to be fine. Of course, I know nothing is fine, and it will never be fine—but that’s what makes it fine. It’s a call for myself, and encouragement to others: try to live, try to move on. If things get heavy or difficult, just sit back and let it go.”
And so she sings, “sit back baby, let it go.” Her EP Another Year Will Pass is out October 31st via Nettwerk.
