néomí reminisces on the past in new song “Trigger”

Date:

néomí is known for her honest storytelling and dreamy soundscapes. She is heavily inspired by folk music and loves artists such as Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Bob Dylan, Phoebe Bridgers, the Paper Kites, and Novo Amor. Her new song “Trigger” focuses on change.

“Trigger” is about missing the past. Through gentle vocals and soft acoustic guitar, néomí reminisces on an old relationship. Lyrics reflect on what once was and what this relationship looks like now with the pain it has caused. Sharing more about the meaning behind the song, néomí says:

The song is so real and painful I don’t think it needs a lot of explaining. It’s about being deeply in love with someone you know it will not work with. You’ve never felt like you really want to hold on, but you know either way it’s going to hurt. Staying or leaving. Preparing your heart for the inevitable hurt and difficulties that come with that.”

The release of “Trigger” came alongside a music video directed by Dirkje Duwel. You can watch below.
