naya mö unleashes a lush, edgy, and enchanted new single, “wanderlust”

Date:

naya mö’s new single “wanderlust” brings us back to a time when Tumblr, The Fault in Our Stars, and twinkle lights climbed our bedroom walls. This dream pop single, covered in a grunge glaze, emanates self-discovery in an attempt to escape your past. When memories we’d rather forget come back strong, sometimes we need a little fuzzy distortion to drown it all out: “We crave wanderlust / We do it all again / To pinpoint the change.”

As an alternative artist traveling from a French music commune to Baltimore, Maryland, naya mö began to fulfill her rockstar journey this past summer. She is influenced by performers like PJ Harvey, Snail Mail, and Lucy Dacus. We listen as her strong yet lush voice carries out the single into a kaleidoscope of velvety, whimsical, twinkling aura.

naya mö’s online presence and aesthetic also help speak towards her music’s soundscape. On her Instagram, you find blurry, mysterious, and ethereal photos and videos of her performing, rehearsing, or more posed content that helps listeners get a vibe of the kind of musician she is.

The track’s echo chamber of mystique and somberness feels like a cool and gloomy fall day. You’re walking around in your oversized sweater and heavy Dr Martens as your tote bag slides off your leather bomber for the 5th time, so naturally, you have something to roll your eyes about and sport a frown, just as the song fuels you to do. It has the perfect edge accompanied by the softness of naya mö’s voice.

Her debut EP will be released in February 2025.
