Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:
——
Louis Tomlinson, “Lemonade” – I think it’s safe to say that the album will be a huge hit with he fans if “Lemonade” is any indication. It gets you ready to hit the dance floor with its soulful licks and catchy lyricism: “She’s so bitter, she’s so sweet / Lemonade, lemonade / A little taste is all I need / Lemonade, lemonade.”
– Reagan Denning
——
Victoria Justice, “Love Zombie” – Victoria Justice leaned into the dance pop sound with this new single, evoking both urgency and fun. It almost feels designed for a Halloween playlist, but it can also work all year round as a love song mixed with some horror.
– Allyson Franzo
——
Peter McPoland, “Look It’s Your Boyfriend!” – On the count of four, McPoland dives into an introspective dissection of his crumbling and strung-out self that is pleading for a second chance on “Look It’s Your Boyfriend!”. Trying to prove why he’s the top candidate for the boyfriend role, despite his imperfections, is the crux of the song. Characterized by a catchy, chant-like chorus, the narrative is centered around this chase for attention, which ends in a happily-ever-after of him finally getting what he set out for: one more chance.
– Audrey Van Schagen
——
Cameron Whitcomb, “The Hard Way” – Opening with the title track, “The Hard Way,” sets the tone of the journey Whitcomb is about to take listeners on. Comparing his existence to the Mona Lisa that sits upon his shelf and seemingly has purpose, he is struggling to find that same purpose. His gravelly vocals convey the weight of his struggles with lines like “I had to do it the hard way / I was addicted to heartache.”
– Victoria Goodwin
