Melodic Music Monday: June 30

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Lorde, “Hammer” – Last Friday, Lorde released “Hammer,” the opening track from Virgin and her final single before the full album arrives. Co-produced by Lorde and Jim-E Stack, “Hammer” is sleek, sharp, and emotionally charged. It’s an instant tone-setter, ushering in a more expansive, confident era. If “Man of the Year” was the breakout anthem, “Hammer” is the warning shot: she’s not holding back.

– Hannah Croteau

——

Lewis Capaldi, “Survive” – Two years after stepping away from the spotlight, Lewis Capaldi returns with his most powerful release yet. “Survive” is a brave anthem that addresses a challenging period in his career that culminated at Glastonbury 2023 when, in an extremely difficult but unifying moment, the Pyramid Stage crowd helped carry an emotional Capaldi over the finish line.

– Britt Mae

——

Maroon 5, “All Night”Love Is Like is Maroon 5’s first album since the release of JORDI in 2021. Frontman Adam Levine shared in a statement that the band is stylistically returning to their roots, “not [paying] attention to where we fit and producing the music organically.” That energy translates well on “All Night,” with a heavy funk influence that set them apart at the beginning of their career 23 years ago.

– Jade Lassalle

——

Jeremy Zucker, “hometown”Jeremy Zucker’s new single “hometown” sets the tone for his upcoming third album Garden State, out Aug. 22. After several collaborative projects and time spent away from solo releases, “hometown” marks a return to the kind of personal, introspective pop that first put Zucker on the map.
