Macklemore releases music video for “MANIAC”

Date:

Even though Macklemore is currently on a 19-stop North American tour with Imagine Dragons, it’s clearly not slowing him down when it comes to releasing music.

Macklemore released his latest single and music video, “MANIAC” featuring Windser on Aug. 19th. This new single, along with “CHANT” which he released in late July, seems to allude to an upcoming Macklemore album.

The Grammy-winning hip-hop artist channels inspiration from 1960s American entertainment shows in “MANIAC”‘s music video. The band is dressed entirely in green, accompanied by three female backup vocalists and dancers, with a bass drum embroidered with the band name, “The Maniacs.” Although disco didn’t become mainstream until the 1970s, Macklemore gives a bit of foreshadowing to the time through his bedazzled disco ball shoes – an unforgettable part of the video.

Windser opens the song with a steady voice before Macklemore joins in to contribute his rap about not seeing the red flags in a relationship and trying to sever ties. Although it discusses a hard-hitting topic, it’s near impossible not to nod your head along with “MANIAC”‘s upbeat track.
