When you listen to Lois Levin, you feel like you are in two places at once. Her jazz and soul stylings can pull you back into the past, back to the days when artists like Marvin Gaye or Billie Holiday thrived. She finds inspiration from these artists, but she also incorporates a modern-day flair in her music, keeping fans in the present. She is seen as one of Liverpool’s rising stars, with such a unique sound that has impressed the likes of EARMILK, BBC Introducing, and Spotify. Her last six singles were A-listed on Jazz FM, setting her up nicely for the release of her upcoming EP, Motions. The project will be released in July, and it will feature “Felt,” which is Lois’s newest single.
On “Felt,” Lois craves intimacy. Her rich, soulful vocals dance over the moody guitar and piano chords for a pleasant and moving offering. It is impossible to ignore Lois’s beautiful tone as she sings, “I came to say hello / Whisper pretty things / Keep it simple / Kiss your cheek, then leave.” Her pace is careful and sure in these verses, but then she gets ahead of herself in the choruses. The vocals overlap here, as she sings, “I wanna be loved, wanna be felt / I wanna be touched in a way and not by myself,” her desperation taking over.
About “Felt,” Lois shares,
“‘Felt’ is about the ache for real connection—craving to be seen, touched, and understood in a world that often feels emotionally distant. It’s a quiet plea for intimacy wrapped in hesitation, loneliness, and a longing to feel something true.
