Lilyisthatyou a.k.a Lily Davies is back with another unapologetic anthem about sex positivity and fighting misogyny. It’s a catchy 80’s driven track, which she drives inspiration from for her music. On the song Lily is reclaiming her autonomy as a woman moving through the world. It’s infectious, but purposeful too.
“The purpose of this song is to reshape the language we use around young women’s bodies,” she says. “Sex has always been something others used to define me. Purity is not how many people you have slept with, sex should not make you feel weak or less than. I’ve realized words like ‘slut’ and ‘whore’ only have as much power as I allow them to.”
Lily is someone who isn’t afraid to break boundaries in the industry. She makes music and talks about subjects others would be afraid to. She is bold, confident, and unapologetic. That’s what makes her such a great artist. She wants to make songs for those who may need it, as she explains that she never had a pop artist that she could look up to when she was 15.
