Laufey has reached a new career milestone as her album, A Matter of Time, debuted at number 4 on the U.S. Billboard 200, marking her best-selling week and first top 10 appearance on the chart.
The Icelandic singer-songwriter’s third LP opened strong with 99,000 equivalent album units sold, including 71,000 album sales. Her 2023 effort, Bewitched, winner of the 2024’s Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, debuted at number 23 on the Billboard 200, with 23,000 album-equivalent units.
A Matter of Time also holds the highest debut for a jazz album since Michael Bublé’s Love in 2018, which debuted at number 2. In addition, Laufey debuts at number 1 on four other charts: Vinyl Albums, Jazz Albums, Traditional Jazz Albums, and Independent Albums.
To celebrate the album’s release, the jazz-pop star performed new songs for fans in Los Angeles at the iconic live music venue Troubadour, and at an outdoor concert on August 24 (also known as “A Very Laufey Day” among her followers) that was streamed live on TikTok in partnership with the app.
