Icelandic genre-bending singer Laufey has taken her diary and turned it into her latest album, A Matter of Time, due out Aug. 22.
The “From The Start”-jazz singer has made a name for herself bringing the originally old-timed genre back into the 21st century.
In a social post on Wednesday, May 14, Laufey wrote:
”I’ve taken my diary and turned it into an album of songs, delving into the whole range of emotions – from the beautiful to the ugly – that one experiences as life and love unfold in time.”
A lead single off the album, “Tough Luck,” is out at midnight. Vinyl preorder is available tomorrow.
Laufey previously released the single, “Silver Lining,” in April. The song mixes her masterful instrumentation and her musicality with her genre-bending vocals.
