We last checked in with Laci Kaye Booth in August, when she released her contemplative single “Luck of the Draw.” It took a look at the way life plays out, with Laci questioning why some have it better than others. Since then, she performed at the Grand Ole Opry as part of its 100th birthday celebration, marking her second time playing at the iconic venue. She also played a special show in Georgia for Spotify’s “homegrown” concert series. The show highlighted acoustic-oriented artists like Vincent Mason and Max McNown, honoring the next generation of country fans and artists. And of course, there was the special moment between her and Ella Langley at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, where the two teamed up for a wistful version of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. Laci definitely has a busy schedule, but the music doesn’t stop. As the year comes to a close, she gives fans her latest single, “I’m In Love With a Man.”
A dark and expressive take on love, “I’m In Love With a Man” is all about what the heart secretly wants. Guided by swelling strings, prominent guitar strums, and twangy melodies, Laci unravels a story that she has been keeping to herself. With a pure yet morose tone, she sings, “When we go to bed / I pretend he’s next to me” and “I’m not a cheater / I’m not a crier / I’m not a leaver / Not even a fighter.” So, who is she singing about? Will she answer her question of, “Do I stay because I love you / Or just love your potential?” You will have to listen to find out.
Telling us more about “I’m In Love With a Man,” Laci shares,
“I played this song at the Bluebird the same week that I wrote it, and I knew from the energy and reaction alone that this was a song people needed as much as I needed to write it. ‘I’m In Love With a Man’ is like a love story with a twisted ending. A heartbreaking, psychological thriller of a song. I’m very grateful I got to write it with my talented friends Tofer Brown and Lauren Hungate.”
“I’m In Love With a Man” is out now via Geffen Records. You can listen to it here.
In March of next year, Laci will join Parker McCollum for a trio of Florida dates in Estero and St. Augustine. She will also perform at Extra Innings, Two Step Inn, Creekstone Rising Country Music Festival, and Railbird Music Festival. You can find tickets here.
