Sophia Laforteza of KATSEYE will be taking some time off from the group in order to prioritize her mental health and wellness.
The announcement was made on Friday, August 7, through Weverse, stating that Sophia cannot join in the promotional activities due to her current state. After discussing her situation with doctors, she has been advised to rest for an extensive period of time, which will be reassessed again in September.
In a message to their fans, Sophia mentioned just how hard the decision was but made sure to point out that nothing is more important than health. She also said she cannot wait to perform again with her sisters and is grateful for all the support they’ve given her.
Sophia’s break is happening six months after another KATSEYE member, Manon, decided to take a break and focus on her health. However, despite the change in the group’s lineup, the band is going to continue to work on their projects, like their third EP, titled WILD, coming out on August 14, and their new documentary, KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS.
For now, fans have been very vocal about having Sophia’s back as she takes the time she needs to rest and take care of herself. Her return to group activities will depend on her health, with an update expected in September.
