Katseye to release second EP ‘Beautiful Chaos’ on June 27

Date:

Katseye, a global girl group, has announced that they will release their second EP, Beautiful Chaos, on June 27. The announcement comes less than a week after the release of the lead single, “Gnarly,” described as a “hard-hitting club banger built on earthquaking 808s, gritty rave synths, and a pugnacious attitude.”

The music video for “Gnarly” reached No. 1 on YouTube’s trending chart and has garnered more than 14 million views. Although some listeners initially questioned Katseye’s lyricism following the song’s release, many quickly embraced the track after seeing the group’s performances on Korean music shows throughout the week. The song has since grown on both fans and new listeners.

Katseye was formed through HYBE and Geffen Records’ competition show Dream Academy, which was later adapted into the Netflix docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. While Katseye follows the structure of the K-pop system, the group also places an emphasis on cultural representation and breaking boundaries in the Western music industry. The group consists of members Daniela, Lara, Manon, Megan, Sophia and Yoonchae.

Beautiful Chaos will present “a clearer picture of who Katseye is as a group and the force that they are becoming.” “Gnarly” sounded completely different from their debut EP, SIS, which featured beat-heavy anthems in a similar vein but also introduced softer, vocally driven pop tones. Fans are eager to see what Katseye brings to the table with their performances and what new sounds they add to their growing discography.

The group will perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago and Summer Sonic in Tokyo later this summer, showcasing their new music.
