Kaelynn Hayes struggles with self-sabotage in new song “rethink us”

Date:

Kaelynn Hayes is a singer-songwriter from the suburbs of Chicago. She began her musical journey at the age of seven when she found a love for karaoke and has since learned guitar and piano. Her new song “rethink us” focuses on overthinking.

“rethink us” is about being scared to take the next step. Through steady piano and smooth harmonies, Kaelynn Hayes shares her struggles with self-sabotage and self-doubt in her relationships.

The chorus sings “I’m scared I’ll be too much / Scared that one day you’ll wake up / And see everything I see / See all the worst in me / And it makes you rethink us,” showing her fear of showing her authentic self because she does not know how others, specifically those closest to her, will perceive her.
