Jude York creates timeless charm in “Those Were The Days”

Date:

Fast-rising Australian star Jude York released yet another pop delicacy, “Those Were The Days,” on Nov. 1. York debuted in 2022 in Australia’s national Eurovision round and has not looked back since. With his breathtaking vulnerability, York has produced work that resonated with a large fanbase, attracting over six million streams on his first mixtape and allowing him to headline his own tour throughout Australia.

“Those Were The Days” expertly captures York’s coming-of-age romanticism along with timeless charm. The melody, rooted in a 1924 Eastern European folk song, features nostalgic, energetic lyrics and an infectious dance-pop beat. About the song’s creation, York said:

“It was a bright spring day on my last birthday, and I was driving down the highway toward a vintage motel that I’d picked out for a photoshoot…. Suddenly, ‘Le Temps Des Fleurs‘ by Dalida came on the radio. I instantly recognized the melody but couldn’t figure out how… All I knew was that that melody felt like everything I was trying to achieve in my artistry.”

York’s latest track has gone viral on TikTok, garnering over four million views. Be sure not to miss it by checking it out below.
