Fontaines D.C. Releases “Favourite”, Second Track from Upcoming Album ‘Romance’

Date:

Following the success of recent release “Starburster”, yesterday Fontaines D.C. released the second track from upcoming album Romance, titled “Favourite”. Romance, set to release Aug. 23, is the band’s most ambitious project yet. The album will feature 11 songs, all of which constellate ideas that have percolated among the band’s members since their release of 2022 album Skinty Fia.

The band proved themselves to be a hit with their release of “Starburster” in April. After the track’s online premiere, it was declared the best of 2024 by Rolling Stone, and the band performed it live for the first time on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

“Favourite” will be the closing track on Romance. The song features heartfelt, ardent lyrics supported by shimmering instrumentation and jangling guitars.

About the song, Fontaines D.C. vocalist Grian Chatten said:

“[Favourite has] this never-ending sound to it, a continuous cycle from euphoria to sadness, two worlds spinning forever.”

The track’s music video premiered yesterday, June 18. In the video, the band documents a recent trip to Madrid, a city to which several band members have close ties. The video features cuts of childhood footage of the five band members, creating intimate, feel-good energy as the band grows and approaches their next big leap in the music industry.

Fontaines D.C. will kick off their North American tour in September, starting in Seattle on Sept. 20 at the Showbox SoDo.

Romance can be pre-saved here.
