Jaya Bremer Runs Out of Patience with “Our Potential”

Date:

A tale as old as time can tell, the fantasy and romantic longing for an  and the unrequited love. Jaya Bremer‘s latest release “Our Potential” discusses the frustrations of this situation and the dichotomy of wanting to have a committed partner while not relinquishing independence.

“This song is written about a crush developed outside of a committed relationship. It is about the longing, the fantasy of someone else that you know little about and can project your desires onto. Our Potential was written as an outlet for this desire, as a way of allowing myself to explore that longing without doing something I was likely to regret. This song is about not wanting to compromise, but to have it all, the freedom and fun, as well as the person waiting for me at home.”

“Our Potential” features vocals and synth from Bremer, Chris Neal (synth/guitar) and Austin Tufts (synth/drums).

Based in Canada, the running joke is that Bremer “has been singing since before she had front teeth,” as the singer didn’t develop teeth until the 4th grade. Having had an early start to her career, Bremer has also earned her Jazz Studies certification at the Victoria Music Conservatory where she first began performing and testing different genre and groupings. She has been part various different acts, and ultimately has found success with her solo project. Her debut album Everybody’s Getting Married was released in 2020. With her release of “Apartment 4” last month, one can only hope that 2024 will bring Bremer’s sophomore album.
