Jake Thistle has released a new single titled “Sleep On Me,” an acoustic folk ballad about second chances. Recorded with a live band, the new track is an intimate offering with sonic warmth and honest lyricism.
The song unfolds like a late-night confession, in which the singer-songwriter begs for forgiveness for his actions, singing, “So sleep on me, sleep on me / One day I’m gonna get it right / Sleep on me, sleep on / I’m a make-it-up to you kinda guy.”
About the meaning behind the song, Thistle says:
“‘Sleep On Me’ is a song that highlights late-night conversations, mistakes, and the request for a second chance. I wanted to write about a character who knows they can do better — despite the overall shortcomings they face.”
Currently, Thistle is a competitor on the 24th season of American Idol, airing Mondays on ABC, and the next day on Hulu. At only 21, he has already released two LPs, a demo album, Down The Line, in 2021, and a live album, Jake Thistle at The Transparent Clinch Gallery, in 2024. Beyond music, he has helped raise more than $100,000 for the American Cancer Society and the Light of Day Foundation.
