Melbourne singer-songwriter Sidney releases her latest vulnerable single “what if it ends?,” announcing her debut EP of the same name set to release on Feb. 27, 2026.
Reminiscent of indie-pop favorites Lizzy McAlpine, Gracie Abrams, and Madi Diaz, Sidney’s “what if it ends?” explores the fear of what’s left after a relationship ends, delivered with soft yet captivating vocals atop a melancholy tune.
Sidney shares,
“’what if it ends?’ was written right after a huge career milestone, opening for one of my childhood heroes. I should’ve felt on top of the world, but instead, I panicked. What if that was the peak? What if nothing ever tops this? That fear of hoping too much stuck with me.
As life moved on, I started relating to the song in a whole new way – especially in my relationship. It’s about how things can look perfect on the surface but underneath you’re not really sure it’s working. We put so much pressure on making the ‘right’ choice, but is that even real? Sometimes the scariest decision – the one that takes real courage – ends up being the best one you ever make.”
“what if it ends?” is out now, available on streaming platforms.
Sidney’s forthcoming EP, what if it ends?, will feature seven tracks, including an earlier 2025 single, “Golden Boy,” a heartbreaking tune that explores what it’s like to try to make a relationship work with someone even when it isn’t meant to be. Both songs give fans a taste of what’s to come in her EP, as she explains:
“I wrote the majority of this EP a year prior to breaking up with my now ex-fiancé; I was so fixated on making the ‘right’ choice. So, each track sits in the tension of two truths at once: wanting to make it work but knowing it’s not right, trying to be present while already grieving, hoping things will last while secretly wondering if they should. The EP moves through that emotional push and pull, from denial and devotion all the way to acceptance and clarity.”
Sidney released her debut single “Bullet” in 2020, which reached No. 1 on Triple J Unearthed, landing a spot on Coast FM and Southern FM.
The Australian artist has gained online recognition through her viral covers of “Truly Madly Deeply,” “Simply the Best,” and “Adore U,” which have reached over 13 million views across TikTok and Instagram, and the Savage Garden cover has reached 2.8 million Spotify streams to date.
