Chase Hudson, known professionally as Huddy, has just released his new single “Burn The Ballroom Down,” following his latest tracks, “Fragile” and “Vendetta.” The song was co-written with Pierce the Veil frontman Vic Fuentes, who also plays guitar on the track.
Huddy has made a name for himself through the years, amassing over 266 million streams and 40 million followers. “Burn The Ballroom Down” taps into Huddy’s sharper, rebellious side, and is the soundtrack to his frustration with the industry’s dark side — encouraging listeners to question the systems of power.
The track leans toward a familiar 2010s emo vibe, with bold and heavy instrumentals that are complemented by Huddy’s vocals, full of anger and vulnerability. Throughout the song, he can be seen blaming himself for feeling the pressure of fame and how destructive the industry is. Lines like, “you did this to yourself / so run like hell / no one can help / let’s burn the ballroom down” add dramatics to the song and turn up the intensity.
Vic Fuentes has a strong influence on “Burn The Ballroom Down.” The instrumentals have a very similar intensity and style to his other work, as if they were something in his own catalog. Even Huddy’s screams have that same touch; they’re intense and chaotic, which just gives the song even more energy. Huddy and Fuentes worked perfectly together to create a song that has a classic 2010s emo feel while staying true to Huddy’s own sound.
“Burn The Ballroom Down” is available to stream on all services now.
