Last month, the world was introduced to Hailey Picardi when she released her debut single, “car crash.” An acoustic guitar-based track, it showcased Hailey’s expressive vocals, her natural ability to emote, and her beguiling singer-songwriter style. It also made a big impression with her fans, as it amassed over 1M streams on Spotify alone. With such a strong debut, Hailey enters 2026 on a high note—but there’s a chance that her next release will only reach even higher.
With “double edged sword,” Hailey gives us a solid follow-up to “car crash.” Based on the title, images of strength and resilience come to mind, along with tragedy. But throughout the track, we enter a dreamy world with shimmering riffs and light vocals. Hailey manages to sound angelic as she sings lines like, “You are a double edged sword / You’re the poison, the cure / You’re the enemy and the ally in this war,” offsetting the troublesome vibes. You can check it out below.
About the single, Hailey shares,
“I wrote ‘double edged sword’ about the feeling of being beaten down and built up by the same hands—also known as trauma bonding or the abuse cycle.”
