Gigi Perez releases short film ‘Back to the Beach’ to celebrate being the Vevo DSCVR artist of the year

Date:

The Vevo DSCVR Artist of the Year has officially been announced as Gigi Perez, who has made a huge name for herself over the past year, especially from “Sailor Song.”

Recently, Vevo released a short film, Back to the Beach, with Perez. The film follows the releases of live performances of “Fable” and “Sugar Water” off of Gigi’s most recent album.

The film starts off in Palm Beach at the Village Music Cafe, which is the same place Gigi began to perform at open mic nights. Perez stated “one day, I drove by the mall and noticed there was an open mic. Ever since the day I walked through the doors, the owners, Steven and Donna, took me in as their own kid – their musical child.”

This is not the first time that Perez got the opportunity to work with Vevo, as earlier this year she got to work with them for her DSCVR performances of “Fable” and “Sailor Song.”

The recipient of this title from Vevo goes to the top emerging artist of the year, and this year Gigi Perez had the honor of being that artist. JP Evangelista of Vevo said “Gigi Perez is the definition of what it means to be an artist on the rise.”

Perez definitely had a year for the books in 2025, and her listeners are very excited to see what she has in store for 2026.
