Gibson partners with Marc Jacobs for JOY Collection this fall

Date:

Gibson has partnered with fashion designer Marc Jacobs for their limited-edition fall JOY collection. Combining vibrant colors and fun artistic expression, the JOY collection includes a total of eight customized Marc Jacobs Gibson Les Paul guitars, four of which are available exclusively at The Corner at Nordstrom NYC. Guitar picks and guitar straps are also featured in the collection, and are available to purchase online now.

The JOY collection guitars include one special Gibson Les Paul Standard “Daisy Joy” design and additional Gibson Les Paul studio guitars, all designed by London-based artist Hattie Stewart.

“Music and fashion have always fueled each other, and this collaboration is Gibson’s way of celebrating that connection,” says Jenny Marsh, Global Director of Cultural Influence and Artist Programs at Gibson.

Amplifying music’s most renowned guitar brand through a haute couture lens, the JOY collection playfully explores the intricate intertwining of two art forms: music and fashion. The collection initially debuted at this year’s New York Fashion Week, which was held from September 11 through September 16. Gibson and Marc Jacobs unveiled the JOY collection at The Corner at Nordstrom NYC, and guests were able to enjoy a live performance from Gibson Spotlight Artist Devon Thompson.

Thompson, a Los Angeles-based alternative pop artist, recently released her new single “Wishing” on September 12. Last year found the release of Thompson’s debut EP SKIN, which featured her definitive ’90s rock-inspired single “Sharp Teeth.” Pulling inspiration from the likes of Paramore, The Smashing Pumpkins and The Smiths, Thompson combines raw songwriting with infectious indie pop hooks.

“Getting to perform with two of the most iconic brands in history, Gibson and Marc Jacobs for NYFW was nothing short of life changing — I thrived,” Thompson says. “Fashion is music, and music is fashion. They’re nothing without each other, and I am nothing without them. I know in the future I will be doing a lot more work in the fashion industry when it comes to Gibson and my music.”

From now until October 5, The Corner at Nordstrom NYC will feature an immersive pop-up exhibition of the Gibson x Marc Jacobs JOY collection, where viewers can insert themselves in a world that explores the intersection of music and fashion through impactful visual storytelling. Featuring interactive rooms and installations, the pop-up will include items from the JOY collection such as guitar picks, guitars, accessories, handbags, and more.

Details of additional global events and immersive pop-ups will be announced soon.
