Frontman Tobias Forge of the sensational Swedish band Ghost says he’s stepping back from the industry after the conclusion of the band’s Skeletour, celebrating the release of their 2025 album Skeletá.

In an interview with Full Metal Jackie‘s radio show transcribed by Blabbermouth MagazineForge begins by stating that there is currently nothing planned for the band’s future once the tour concludes. In the recording, he makes mentions of wanting to take time off, not only for his mental and physical health, but to also prioritize his time with his family:

“I have my family. Duh. Of course, everybody knows that. I’ve had two kids waiting at home with my wife for 15 years, and maybe that says something about me that it wasn’t a pushing enough factor during those years. Believe me, I felt bad, but I’ve definitely come to a point where not only do I need — I feel physically and mentally I need to be home, simply because they’re 17; they’re not gonna be around for an eon…. i don’t simply have an idea. And I’m out of tiles. I’m out of wood. I just don’t have it. So the only way for me to come up with a new idea and get some new inspiration is to just step away. It is as simple as that.”

Despite stepping away from the band after 15 years, Forge does express that he has a few solo projects he’s been working on that will be released within the coming years. This includes two film projects and an album for a different project, which was recorded right before the band departed on the world tour.

Forge expresses his contentment with the uncertainty of the future he carries with him, stating, “It just feels like a good time to sort of, like, ‘All right. When I come back, we’ll start this new chapter, this new reality.'”

Regardless of the disappointment and sadness some fans may be feeling, we bid Forge adieu and wish for a very well-deserved break as we continue to support him in his independent endeavors, whilst also showing support for the remainder of the band and what is to emerge in their future
