Los Angeles native, EMME, has released “No Really, I’m Good,” an indie pop anthem for anyone who has ever gone through a friend breakup. The single contrasts her latest release, “Are You Winning Now?,” an emotional acoustic track reminiscent of Olivia Rodrigo’s ballads.
On the upbeat, “No Really, I’m Good,” EMME isn’t afraid to show off just how good it feels to have moved on from a breakup with care-free, honest lyrics such as “You ruined the friendship and it feels like a blessing / It used to affect me but now I’m just sitting here pretty.” Filled with multi-layered bright acoustic guitars perfect for the summer and instantly catchy melodies, the song will have you singing along by the time it’s over.
EMME’s signature catchy hooks can also be heard on many other artists’ songs she has written, including Grace VanderWaal’s “Hideaway,” JORDY’s “things I never said” and Le Youth’s “About Us.”
Her recent string of singles released this year proves she is able to consistently deliver relatable songwriting that captures the ups and downs of friendships and, while we’re glad she’s good now, we hope the songs keep coming.
