Alternative rock band Die Twice have dropped their debut independent single “Jakobo” via FAE.
“Jakobo” is centered around uncertainty and resistance unfolding in fragments — messages to loved ones, images of streets and small rituals of escape — all circling a refusal to compromise, and capturing the tension between instability and identity.
The track kicks off with a saloon piano as it stretches into ethereal verses where smoke clings to yearning vocals and a spidery guitar until it collapses into an explosive chorus driven by a thunderous rhythm section. Die Twice’s hauntingly striking musicianship is embodied in “Jakobo,” as it doesn’t rush through any of the elements that make it sonically cinematic and luxuriant.
Die Twice was formed by way of chance encounters in Exeter, England, and consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Olly Bayton, guitarist Billy Twamley, bassist Finn “Blue” Lloyd, and drummer Jake Coles. They have sold out 500-capacity rooms on their own and continue to grow their fanbase on the heels of their relocation to Brighton, England, last year.
