Dearly Beloved’s “All Hat” is pure catharsis

Date:

Punk noise band Dearly Beloved have released their explosive new track, “All Hat,” the latest single off their upcoming album, Walker Park. The Toronto-based band produced the album themselves, and while it’s their first release in 3 years, it’s the seventh record in their overall discography.

“All Hat” is a vertiginous trip with heavy prog rock influences. The track combines Rush’s complexity with Primus’ chaotic energy, turning into a cathartic experience that stays in your head. Despite the classic references, “All Hat” has a fresh sound that takes the essence of the masters and brings it to the modern times. The song serves as an escape, a form of energy release through music, both for the band and the listener.

The upcoming album Walker Park is a reflection of the absurdity of the past couple of years, and “All Hat” is a great example of the chaos around us. About the album, Dearly Beloved’s Rob Higgins notes that  “(…) it is the soundtrack to an as-yet-unmade film of the same name. Some turning points you just don’t come back from. Some turning points in our lives are so profound that the changes they inspire are of the fundamental variety.”
