Dayseeker announced that their new album Creature In The Black Night will be released on October 24th via Spinefarm. Pre-order/pre-save is available here.
The record is promised to be their most immersive and intentional work to date, with Dan Braunstein (Spiritbox, Silent Planet) taking care of production and Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, Bring Me The Horizon, Lorna Shore) handling the mixing. Creature In The Black Night is described as bringing forth a thrilling, eerie and cinematic vibe with a dark and sexy emotional current.
Dayseeker released the album’s title track as its second single alongside the announcement. “Creature In The Black Night” is a hauntingly dreamy track that sees the Southern California-based rock band at their best. Its dramatic vocal shifts, rising sonic tension, and ethereal melodies that escalate into explosive breakdowns make the track an intense and captivating listen. Vocalist Rory Rodriguez shares,
“’Creature In The Black Night’ is the darker part of your conscience overpowering you. It’s about the rush you’re addicted to that you can’t ignore.”
The music video for “Creature In The Black Night” is as hauntingly beautiful as the song. With visuals that feel almost like a hallucination, Dayseeker gives life to the track’s meaning through an eerie red-lit spectacle.
Following the record’s lead single, “Pale Moonlight,” which was released in late April, “Creature In The Black Night” continues to build up the excitement and suspense ahead of the album’s release. Both tracks give a significant glimpse into the sonic, lyrical and thematic direction Dayseeker steered towards for this record. While the album is not a traditional concept album, it’s still a cohesive project with its shadowy visual identity, Grim Reaper iconography, and ominous atmosphere. Creature In The Black Night is laced with a horror-inspired vibe complete with sharper edges, heavier riffs, and louder screams. It follows their 2022 cathartic and heartfelt fifth record Dark Sun and is already proving to be a completely new evolution for the band with just two singles unveiled. Rodriguez continues,
“There was this idea that we’d get more and more commercial over time. But I think the opposite happened — we’re riffing more, I’m screaming more. And it feels good. It feels honest.”
Dayseeker will be hitting the road for a run of headlining dates and supporting In This Moment and Ice Nine Kills through the rest of 2025. Tickets and information for all of the band’s upcoming shows can be found here.
