David Byrne announces new album, ‘Who Is The Sky?’

Date:

Punk music icon David Byrne has announced his eleventh solo album, Who Is The Sky? via Matador records, due to release on September 5th. This album advances Byrne’s especially unique and extensive career. The former Talking Heads frontman has done everything from composing cinematic scores to writing books (if you haven’t read his 2012 book How Music Works, you’re missing out), to performing in Broadway productions. He has collaborated with the likes of Paul Simon, Arcade Fire, and even Selena Quintanilla. Byrne has been consistently creating since the inception of Talking Heads in 1975 and he doesn’t show any signs of stopping now.

Byrne will be accompanied by Ghost Train Orchestra on, Who Is The Sky?. He also revealed in an Instagram post that the album will feature longtime friend and collaborator St. Vincent and Paramore’s Hayley Williams. Williams has been very vocal in her admiration of Byrne’s body of work, even appearing with Paramore on the Talking Heads Stop Making Sense tribute album last year.

The announcement of, Who Is The Sky? also came with the release of its lead single, “Everybody Laughs,” a bright, airy, and playful reflection on the interconnectedness of life.
