Australian folk-pop trio Sons Of The East releases new single “Rescue Me”

Date:

Fitting the mold of the indie-folk pop explosion headed by Noah Kahan’s popularity throughout the last couple of years, Sydney’s Sons Of The East create a decidedly similar sound that fans can cling onto. Their new single “Rescue Me” adds to their never-ending catalogue of singles, this time along with the announcement of their long-awaited sophomore album, SONS.

“Rescue Me” is what you would expect of a typical stomp-clap anthem, infused with a little Australian surfer boy soul. The repeated call is the title of the song, “Rescue Me.” With played out lyrics such as “Babe, if we don’t swim we’re gonna sink” and
“I love you like a drug, and I can’t win,” it’s best to focus on the band’s instrumentation.

Sons Of The East have a sound typical of the genre they’re in: smoothly acoustic, built for easy listening, and largely expected. For fans of the sound, it’s more of the same, with the lyrics being easy to learn and ho-hey along to. Definitely suited for fans of the genre who don’t want to see much innovation, I’m hoping the new album sees a little more experimentation from this clearly capable group of musicians.

Stream “Rescue Me” below and look out for their new album SONS anticipated for summer 2025.
