Annabel Gutherz takes ownership of her life on “Eclipse”

Date:

For anyone who uses social media to follow friends, family, crushes, favorite singers or actors, it is inevitable to fall into the “comparison” trap. This is the trap of innocently scrolling through your feed, seeing a post about someone getting a promotion or getting engaged, and then wondering when it will be your turn. It may not be intentional, but it happens. And when you see those kinds of posts multiple times a day or multiple times a week, that comparison can turn into jealousy, anger, pity – feelings that are not so post-worthy. The holidays can be a time when the comparing gets out of hand, so if it makes you a little down, you can just play the latest single from Annabel Gutherz.

On Annabel’s new single, “Eclipse,” the singer-songwriter tries not to let the actions of others get the best of her. Throughout the track, Annabel reveals this problematic habit, singing, “I eclipse all that I do / And I compare myself to you,” living in the shadows. She then gives herself a pep talk, dropping inspirational lines like, “Gotta stay the course, take my path, chase my stream” and “Gotta step into the light and out of your shadow,” ready to take ownership of her life. Overall, she deviates from the cinematic stylings of her debut album and subsequent singles and flexes a modern pop and rock sound that makes this song truly incomparable. You can check it out below.

Telling us more about “Eclipse,” Annabel shares,

“‘Eclipse’ is about my tendency to compare myself to others and the impact this has on my self-esteem. I would rather be concentrated on purpose than consumed by comparison despite how challenging it may be at times, especially given the ubiquitous nature of social media. This single showcases my desire to focus on my own path and nurture my inner confidence.”

You can listen to “Eclipse” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
