Nashville singer-songwriter Amy Stroup has returned to her solo project with new pop song “Til The Stars Come Back To Us.” The artist uses her experience as a songwriter to create a simple indie pop track primed for radio.
The single has a simple message: to “wait til the stars come back.” The overall sound of the song starts off a little cliché with an acoustic guitar accompanying Stroup’s vocals. However, there’s a slow build to the final chorus, which lets out a 2010s-like indie pop breakdown with chopped up vocals and an abundance of synths. The pace does well not to get ahead of itself, but the drums are heavily echoed, which gives the biggest hint to this final chorus. The only element that could have benefited from a change in pace earlier in the song are Stroup’s vocals. While she is able to flex her muscles in the aforementioned breakdown, it sometimes gets washed out by the production. It’s a shame that we are not able to fully appreciate the vocals beforehand.
Stroup’s skills as a songwriter are highlighted throughout the song, which is full of imagery and catchy top lining. The first verse opens with “fall like a rock in a river / wide ripple from the feeling,” setting the optimistic tone, which follows throughout the song with lyrics such as, “dark won’t last forever.” While the lyrics are, at times, a little too cheesy, the melody is well enough constructed to overlook the lyrics. Stroup had a clear vision for the lyrics of this song and she is able to communicate this to listeners easily.
“Til The Stars Come Back To Us” is Amy Stroup’s first release of 2025, so it’ll be interesting to see where she goes from here. The new single is out now.
