Carving out his own nook in the indie scene and pioneering his brand of alternative soul music, VC Pines is poised for introducing a new sound with the impending release of a new EP Viole(n)t Colour.
It’s no surprise that VC Pines’ music is so sensory as his epilepsy, which manifests as synaesthesia—associating colors and emotions with sounds, chords, and melodies—is integral to his creative process. Lyrically, VC Pines says,
“Chasing the dragon Is about love that you can’t let go of despite it being the reason for your suffering. You’re addicted to this person yet you know they’re no good for you, and you’re no good for each other.”
With clicking percussion and smoothly sliding vocals, electronic, soul, and indie music is blended into an amalgam of slick emotional hooks and punches. Clean, drawn-out production is combined with a rawness of soul that makes VC Pines’ music a uniquely rich experience.
