Aloe Blacc and 2ŁØT released “Immortal” on May 30th, an inspirational dance track with a deep meaning. Inspired by the Latin phrase, “memento mori,” meaning, “remember you must die,” Blacc’s soulful voice urges listeners to persevere through life’s challenges and live bravely. The new single’s message is simple: Life is short, but pretend it’s not and live well right now.

2ŁØT’s musical style is hard to put a finger on, pulling elements from EDM, jazz, rock, funk and hip-hop. The five-piece band has managed to create a genre-defying sound that can easily be enjoyed by listeners from all walks of life. The dance-ability of “Immortal” is thrown into a lovely balance by its deep, moving lyrics. It’s the type of song that belongs on workout playlists and party playlists alike.

2ŁØT’s dedication to advocating for social change lines up with Blacc’s interwoven themes of love, unity, and togetherness. Each song on Aloe Blacc’s latest album, Stand Together, is dedicated to a different organization or cause for social change. The group will reunite on June 13th-14th to perform “Immortal” at the socially conscious Somewhere Festival and Conference in Wichita. Tickets can be purchased here.
