Last year was full of growth for Ally Salort, with the LA-based singer-songwriter releasing her debut EP, Change of Plans. It included singles like “Before and After” and “Horror Movie,” which spoke to the complicated feelings we experience in dating. When it comes to growing up and the entering of adulthood, dating is just one area of the whole experience that holds significance. Some of the other crucial areas include self-love, growth, and acceptance. On Change of Plans, Ally explored it all, and she continued to connect with her fans through her intimate storytelling and lush singer-songwriter ways.
A few months later, Ally followed up the project with “We’re Not Friends.” Here, fans heard a more confident and determined Ally, as she directly cut ties with someone who did her wrong. It was honest and strong, ushering a solid new era for the young artist. As we come into 2026, Ally is ready to keep her composure with the release of “I’ve Never Met Her,” her first single of the year.
On “I’ve Never Met Her,” we look back on the past—only to tell it off. It’s an empowering and reflective single in the best way, with a lively pop sound that carries throughout. Meanwhile, Ally lets go of an old version of herself, indicating that she has evolved. With a celebratory sound, she sings, “She made a mess of my life / So I had to leave her behind” and “I walk around light as a feather / ‘Cause that was then and this is now, it doesn’t matter / A part of me that I don’t remember,” embracing a fresh start.
“I’ve Never Met Her” is out now via Disruptor Records/RCA Records. You can listen to it here.
