K-pop hitmakers aespa unleashed their bold new single, “Dirty Work,” via SM Entertainment/Virgin Records on June 27th. Known for their unique concepts and powerful attitude, aespa has become one of the fastest-rising K-pop groups globally since their 2020 debut with “Black Mamba.”
“Dirty Work” is a captivating dance track that incorporates a gripping synth bass and sleek, hip-hop inspired style. It also showcases the group’s lower vocal register with a charismatic spoken delivery that especially shines in the song’s chorus. “Dirty Work” oozes the confidence and attitude that aespa has become synonymous with, but in a different and more sultry way than before.
The music video for “Dirty Work” features the four girls getting their hands dirty at a Hyundai Steel plant, with shots of them crawling through muddy storage yards surrounded by heavy machinery and dancing alongside 225 extras.
In addition to “Dirty Work,” aespa also released three different versions of the single, including an instrumental, English version, and collaboration with Flo Milli. “Dirty Work (English Version)” has a seamless and effortless execution that doesn’t make this full-English delivery feel forced or awkward like some K-pop English versions tend to feel. The collaboration with Flo Milli also breathes new life into the track, with the American rapper’s flow and attitude complementing the rest of aespa flawlessly.
With over 1 million pre-orders, “Dirty Work” allowed aespa to achieve their sixth consecutive million-seller even before its official release. “Dirty Work” is available in physical formats here, including a limited edition version titled “Dirty Work (Dirty Crew Ring Ver.)” that launched on July 4th.
