Louie Rubio debuts “Free Fall,” a warm, indie-folk lullaby

Date:

Louie Rubio has released “Free Fall,” his second single of 2025. It’s a cozy indie-folk lullaby that invites listeners to enjoy a depth and intimacy that fans may not have heard from Rubio yet. The Los Angeles native is already a well-seasoned artist, having enjoyed collaborating with artists like Ty Dolla $ign, Post Malone, and Nile Rodgers. He’s been described by Rolling Stone Español as “a new artist to watch,” and his music has been featured on Spotify’s Latin Fresh Finds.

“Free Fall” is a story about embracing the unknown. Rubio’s lyrical composition is simple, but cuts deep for anyone who has ever felt freedom and fear at the same time: “You’ve had a good run / pack your bag and put your muzzle on / you’ve had some good fun / lose the leash you’ve carried for so long.”

The song opens with delicate, finger-plucked guitars and whisper-soft vocals. Rubio’s use of panning and reverb in production make the song atmospheric and deeply immersive. It almost has a spiritual quality as it moves into the chorus. It feels like hearing a choir in a cathedral and getting goosebumps; it’s a little bit haunting.

Rubio layers harmonies under the choruses, with just enough reverb and one dissonant note that gives the song an ethereal, otherworldly feel. The closing interlude lingers and leaves the ear wanting more. “Free Fall” is a shining example of how less can be infinitely more when it comes to creating beautiful music. “Free Fall” is available to stream wherever you listen to music.
