On March 1, BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT turned Bowery Ballroom in New York into an electric sanctuary for fans who waited months to see their newest album, WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO? come to life.
Anyone who’s seen the band live knows that they know how to put on a show, and they proved it yet again. From before the doors opened all the way until everyone was walking out of the venue, the energy was through the roof.
NIGHTBREAKERS, a group from Florida, helped the guys of BSD kick off the night. Their setlist included many of their original songs along with a cover of “Eenie Meenie” by Justin Bieber and Sean Kingston. They warmed up the crowd and had them all moving. Between dancing, waving their arms, and clapping, fans definitely enjoyed the 30 minutes of NIGHTBREAKERS that they got to see.
At 9:00, BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT stepped onstage and the crowd roared. They opened the show with the track of the new album, “WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERFLIES GO?”. They then went on to sing their song “XXX”, is a fan-favorite from the new album. This was followed by “TWO OF US,” “FEVER,” and “SEX APPEAL,” all of which were singles released leading up to the album.
They then went on to sing “MADONNA” and “HEART AWAY” before throwing it back a little, singing “WE MADE PLANS & GOD LAUGHED.” This is usually the song the crowd is loudest for, and that happened yet again. They followed with “HOW COULD I FORGET” and “SICK PUPPY,” both on their new album.

At this point, the show was about halfway over, and the energy levels didn’t die down. If anything the crowd got louder and expressed even more excitement. Just when you thought the audience couldn’t get any louder they did, and it was right when BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT said the next song was for the OGs, and the leading notes of “Coming Down” began to play. This led into the performance of “ON YOUR LIPS” and “LMTFA.”
BSD fans, also known as the “Dropouts,” are very vocal when it comes to their favorite songs, so they had a surprise up their sleeves. Many fans were disappointed when no songs from the band’s album READY TO EAT made the setlist, so it’s safe to say the crowd erupted into cheers when they began to play “scarlett letter.”
They then slowed it down a little. As soon as lead singer Colie Hutzler went to get his guitar, fans knew exactly what song was next. As the first chord of “ADELINE (SAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US)” began, everyone screamed, and the crowd swayed back and forth for the whole duration of the song. Of course, the energy had to pick right back up and the band went right into “CITY NEVER SLEEPS,” “DADDY DON’T CRY,” and “A$$A$$IN.”
And at last, a BSD show is never complete until the mosh pit opens for “FIGHT MODE,” so that is how the show closed yet again. Between fans moshing, band members crowd surfing and fans getting pulled on stage, the energy during this song made it the perfect closer for a perfect night.

From start to finish, BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT was so appreciative of all their fans, constantly getting emotional and thanking them. Bardo, Colie, Beepus and Colton all made small speeches showing emotion. Beepus was getting choked up when he spoke: “I’ve been crying under these glasses… you guys are making our dreams come true, thank you so much.”
In a city that never lacks live music, BSD showed that they’re not just another band on tour; they’re a band making their own mark in the world of music, and inviting their fans to join them not just for the music itself, but for the energy and emotion that comes with it.
