Hannah Felisa releases “Naive”, first single from anticipated debut album

Date:

Hannah Felisa explores adapting to a new environment away from home in her first released single of 2024, titled “Naive”. In her music, the singer-songwriter out of Boston, Mass. often takes cues from artists including Mitski, Hozier, and Maggie Rogers to craft her own mesmerizing, wonderfully composed sound.

Along with “Naive” came an official music video that premiered on Aug. 8. The video features Felisa dressed in a white dress and feathery wings against a beautifully snowy landscape, as she navigates her surroundings to avoid being hunted.

About choosing the video’s setting, Felisa said:

“Such harsh elements are not forgiving; there is a sort of danger intertwined with the forest’s magical appearance. This feeling of being in a perfect bubble until something goes wrong. This is how I felt writing the song, as if I wanted that bubble of naive innocence to last a little longer and not burst just yet.”

Felisa’s soft yet powerful vocals stand out in “Naive”. Her choice to include mellow, delicate instrumentation allows for her storytelling to take front and center in the listener’s mind. Felisa longingly sings poignant lyrics including, “Let me be naive a little longer / Let these legs pretend to walk on water / Let me be blind to remaking myself into / Something worth choosing”.

About the single’s lyrics, Felisa added:

“The lyrics paint a vivid picture of youthful rebellion, nostalgia, and a desire to cling to innocence amidst the inevitable passage of time.”

Felisa is set to release her debut album this fall. Until then, fans can expect more new music to drop in advance of the album.
