Last year was significant for Billboard-charting artist Wyn Starks, as his career soared to new heights. Not only did he consistently release single after single throughout the year, such as “Where Are The Giants” and “Happy Again,” but he found a connection with Céline Dion. In her 2024 documentary, I Am: Céline Dion, Céline is seen singing along to Starks’s 2020 hit single, “Who I Am.” She shared that the song helped her cope with her Stiff-Person Syndrome diagnosis. For Starks, Céline Dion has always been an inspiration, so this was a full-circle moment. He now honors her with a cover of her version of “I Drove All Night.”
Originally written in 1987 by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, “I Drove All Night” was debuted by Cyndi Lauper in 1989. It then became a hit for Céline Dion when she covered it in 2003. The track is an outpouring of love, a confession of doing whatever it takes to be with that special someone – even if it means getting behind the wheel and driving all throughout the night just to be with that person. Wyn’s version trades out the cosmic pop beats in Céline’s version for steadier drumbeats, making it more of a cinematic power ballad than a vibrant pop anthem. Still, he captures Céline’s power and passion, making it a stunning cover. You can check it out in the live studio session video below.
Wyn reflects on the impact of Céline Dion,
“I’ve always been inspired by Céline Dion, and her music has been a guiding light for me through many challenges in my life. Seeing her sing ‘Who I Am’ with such strength and resilience, despite everything she’s facing, was a moment I’ll never forget. I still get emotional just thinking about it.”
