Faint Halos Debut New Introspective Rock Single “Skyline Hill”

Date:

Singer-songwriter Paul Hashemi, the frontman of Faint Halos, has released the second single “Skyline Hill” from his forthcoming album release I can see a million lights, out in August 2024.

“Skyline Hill” beautifully captures the essence of a tranquil summer evening at the Mann Center, with Hashemi reflecting on the inspiration behind the single.

Philadelphia’s unique intimate locales and expansive views served as a backdrop for Hashemi’s contemplation, leading him to recognise the importance of gaining perspective from a distance:

“Philly is a city of small, intimate places – every place you go feels local and familiar, which is amazing. But that night, from a distance, I could see the whole city as this single, vast whole.”

Hashemi shares the origin of a poignant quote that inspired the song’s bridge, emphasizing the timeless nature of its message. “Skyline Hill” stands out for its intentional simplicity in musical arrangement, featuring acoustic and electric guitars, keys, bass, drums, and vocals.

“The lead guitar lines are played with an eBow, and it was fun to experiment until I nailed down a “fluttering” technique for the solo, playing a trill with the left hand and using the bow to swell the volume in and out. It took a lot of work (and many takes) to get it right!

This track is one of the first pieces  written for the new album, and it is intentionally simple in arrangement with only acoustic and electric guitar, keys, bass, drums and vocals.

The addition of the eBow on the lead guitar in this track adds a unique texture, with the fluttering technique on the solo, is supported by an airy, minimalist arrangement and haunting, distant guitar melodies.

“Skyline Hill” was recorded, produced, and mixed in Hashemi’s home studio in Berwyn, PA, with additional vocals recorded in North Carolina.

Paul Hashemi’s musical journey is a story of perseverance and passion.

From classical training to touring with rock bands in the ’90s, he has experienced the highs and lows of the industry. Despite stepping back to focus on family, the pandemic provided him with the opportunity to reignite his creativity as Faint Halos.

His debut album, I can see a million lights, delves into introspective themes with poignant lyrics and dynamic arrangements. This creative rebirth marks an exciting new chapter in his music career.
